Renovated cruise terminal reopens in Seattle

The Port of Seattle’s downtown Bell Street Pier Cruise Terminal
reopened after a $30 million renovation.

The design of the new terminal repurposes existing areas to
enhance the passenger experience. From a new and expanded VIP lounge and
passenger check-in area, guests have views of the ship and Elliott Bay.  Also, the port installed a modified elevated
passenger boarding bridge. A new gangway will arrive early next year, featuring
floor-to-ceiling transparent walls.

Funding for the project was split equally with Norwegian
Cruise Line Holdings, the priority tenant. NCLH will manage the building
during the cruise season.

“Together, we have increased usage capacity by more
than 300 percent,” said Howard Sherman, NCLH’s executive vice president of
onboard revenue and destination development.

Norwegian’s 15-year lease on the terminal, signed last year,
provides passenger volume guarantees estimated to yield port revenue of $73
million.
