Royal Caribbean Teams Up With a Pretty Little Adventurist

PHOTO: Another iteration of Royal Caribbean’s ‘Come Seek’ campaign has begun.  

Royal Caribbean is actively recruiting the next generation of travelers, employing actress and adventurer Shay Mitchell as the cruise line’s first “Adventurist.” 

Mitchell, who starred on the hit television series “Pretty Little Liars,” seeks daredevil activities around the world. She has already been hot-air ballooning in Morocco and skydiving in Dubai, among others. 

“I’ve always had a love for travel and am fortunate to explore some of the most amazing places around the world, learning quickly that the journey is as important as the destination,” said Mitchell. 

“I’m thrilled to take what I have learned from my own travels and dive in with Royal Caribbean to develop the ultimate Caribbean adventure for travelers like me, who are always seeking something new and craving deeper connections to the destinations they visit,” she added. 

Royal Caribbean believes that Mitchell’s spirit embodies the cruise line’s “Come Seek” branding. 

“It’s in Royal Caribbean’s nature to seek and deliver the unexpected – the adventures and experiences that make travelers’ jaws drop, their adrenaline rise and their memories unforgettable,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. 

“When we started to think of who could perfectly embody what vacationing with us is all about in our newly created Adventurist role, Mitchell was someone who rose to the top immediately. She personifies who we are and our spirit – the spirit to ‘Come Seek.’ The ideas that Shay brings to the table will help create an adventure in the Caribbean that will redefine what many think of as a cruise vacation and inspire the next generation of cruisers,” added Bayley. 

Royal Caribbean began courting millennials with its Come Seek branding in 2015. The idea was to demonstrate to a generation that loves adventure travel but wasn’t particularly interested in cruising that the two were not mutually exclusive.

Adding an adventure ambassador is the next step for the line’s campaign, positioning a cruise with Royal Caribbean as an energetic experience full of thrilling opportunities. 

Mitchell has inspired many with her “Shaycation” YouTube series in which she seeks out authentic experiences around the world and shares them with her more than 17 million social media followers.
